Sports Massage & Remedial Massage

If you're an athlete, getting a sports massage may be one of the smartest things you ever do. Many people think that sports massages are only for pro athletes, but they can actually benefit any level of performer, from casual joggers to marathon runners and everyone in between. Not only do sports massages help your body recover from strain and fatigue - which is important in itself -but they can also help improve your performance at your chosen sport.

Sports Massage are a great way to recover from training and competition
One of the most important things for an athlete to consider is how their body will recover after training and competition. Sports massages are one of the best ways to help your body recover from strenuous training and competition.
Sports massage improves blood flow and circulation, which results in improved muscle recovery time. As athletes, we all know that recovery is an important part of any training program.
Sports Massage help you to perform more effectively
Whether you’re a professional athlete or simply enjoy a casual game, sports massages can help you perform more effectively. The benefits of sports massage include reducing muscle soreness, improving your performance, and reducing your risk of injury.  Massage also increases range of motion and flexibility, reducing tension in the muscles and increasing range of motion. As an added bonus, the massage can help to reduce muscle soreness after hard workouts or competition.

Remedial Massage for niggles and injuries
Remedial massage is used to treat a variety of muscular problems and injuries, including frozen shoulder, headaches, and injuries sustained in sports and other activities. Remedial Massage can take different forms such as Deep Tissue Massage and Trigger Point Therapy.

Deep Tissue massage is a type of massage that uses firm, slow strokes to target the deeper levels of muscle and connective tissue. A deep tissue massage uses significantly harder pressure than a sports massage and can help release muscle tension while also promoting blood flow.

Trigger point therapy is used to relieve uncomfortable muscle and facial tension that is commonly refer to as a knot. A trigger point is released by constant pressure being applied until the pain starts to subside. This could take a few minutes or just a few seconds. It can take several sessions to relieve the discomfort if the trigger point is particularly chronic. The idea of applying constant pressure to a trigger point is to get the blood flow away and then when you let go the blood flow rushes back in, drawing all of the new nutrients to the area.
Both Sports and Remedial Massage techniques are used during your visit at Reco Day. Each massage will be customised to meet your needs after we chat about your current level of fatigue and any minor problems you may be experiencing.
